"The Truth about
Surgical Treatment of Endometriosis"

Endometriosis & Pelvic Pain - Andrew S. Cook, MD spoke with OBGYN.net at the 35th Annual Clinical Meeting of Advancing Minimally Invasive Gynecology Worldwide (AAGL) held in Las Vegas, NV during November 2006

The Way Women Should Be Treated
More than 15% of women suffer from chronic pelvic pain. While this condition is often caused by endometriosis, not uncommonly other conditions are contributing to the pain. An overall body illness with symptoms such as fatigue, bloating, painful intercourse, bowel or bladder problems, joint pain, muscle pain, allergies, etc., are often present in addition to the pain. Simply put, this condition often robs women of a normal life. Treatment of endometriosis and pelvic pain can be complex and is not fully understood by the medical community. We are still looking for a cure for endometriosis.

The fact that women with this disease externally look well combined with the all too often ineffective treatment, unfortunately result in some women being told that the pain is in their heads. This could not be further from the truth. In my experience most women usually hide their pain and suffering from others.

At the VitalCare Institute, our advanced programs have high rates of success in significantly improving these women's quality of life. We treat women the way they deserve to be treated. We believe that women with pelvic pain must be heard. They are the ones who know their bodies and the pain, the disruption to their lives and the frustration of not getting proper treatment. We believe that a woman knows her own body better than any outside person, and her pain experiences are real, even if it is difficult to find the cause.

In fact, some women come to VitalCare convinced that there is nothing that can be done about their pain and that they are doomed to live a life of suffering. At VitalCare Institute of Health, women are treated with the dignity and respect that they deserve. In the process, their medical problems are corrected and in the vast majority of cases, their quality of life returned.

I invite you to explore this site and our endometriosis & pelvic pain educational site - www.pelvicpain.com - to learn more about this disease. If you are willing and able, I would like to help you regain your life.
